Approximately 10” wide (without border) and 64” in
circumference or 32” when laying flat
Materials
Tunisian long needle 11.5 mm/size P
Crochet needle 10 mm
Light worsted weight yarn in two colours (I used Wibra in
purple and hot pink), 4 balls
Darning needle
Darning needle
Pattern
Foundation row
Chain
18 (or chain as much to get a width of 10” or a preferred width)
Forward
pass: Insert hook into back bump of first stitch, yo, pull up loop, leave loop
on hook. Repeat for all chain stitches (19 loops on hook)
Return
pass: Ch1, * yo, pull through 2 loops*, repeat between ** until you have one
loop left on hook
Tunisian Knit Stitch (TKS)
Forward
pass: * Insert hook between both front vertical and back vertical bar from
front right to back left, yo, pull up loop*, repeat between ** until the last
stitch. For the last stitch, insert hook between left loop plus back bump and
most right loop (this means you will have the most left loop and the back bump on the left side of your hook and the most right loop on the right side of you hook), yo, pull up loop.
Return
pass: Ch1, *yo, pull through 2 loops*, repeat between ** until you have one
loop left on hook.
Repeat
the forward pass and return pass until your cowl is 44” long (or prefferred
length, 44” is standard for a cowl that is wrapped twice loosely around your
neck).
Finishing row
* Insert hook in between both front
vertical and back vertical bar from front right to back left, yo, make a slip stitch (1
loop on hook)*, repeat between ** until you have worked your way to the end of
the row.
Fasten
off.
Take
a needle and with a mattress stitch sew both ends of the cowl together.
Attach
yarn into the side of a row with your normal crochet hook.
Ch1,
single crochet once in each row end along the cowl.
Repeat
on the other end.
