One Square a Day

~~~~~
And a square a day is the only crochet thing I get done everyday... That's how busy work at school has been the last few weeks. It's actually too busy too my liking, and this is why I decided not to publish the whole pattern of the Passiflora MCAL today. Instead, I unplugged yesterday to reload. Upcoming weekend marks my first weekend without work to grade, and I will take some time here and there to finish the pattern and make it ready for next Friday.
Anyhoo, so far the whole moodblanket is coming together nicely and that is my daily crochet joy at the moment!
Curious about my moodblanket squares? You can find the pattern for the square over here. I will post a tutorial on the join I am using in the near future (it's a tight join if you are curious :) )
Have a superb weekend everyone!
MCAL Passiflora 4: End in sight
Het laatste deel! Haken jullie lekker? Deze week maken we de boel af. Een laatste stukje en de rand.  Voor de rand koos ik voor een kreeftsteek, die geeft zo lekker een ribbeltjes/bobbeltjes rand. Ik gebruikte deze steek al eens eerder, namelijk voor mijn "Slightly Bobbly" col. Voor dit deel verwijs ik jullie naar een wat oudere haaktutorial, met zowel foto's als video. Kijk maar mee.
De tutorial voor de waistcoat steek vind je in deel 2. Klik op deze link om daar naar toe te gaan.
Deel 3 vind je hier en alle andere informatie vind je op de MCAL pagina
Ik ben benieuwd naar jullie versies! Je kunt ze laten zien op mijn Facebook pagina of in de MCAL facebookgroep.
Ik hoop dat je het meehaken leuk vond en dat ik je bij de zomer MCAL weer terugzie :) Volgende week wordt het volledige patroon in een PDF gepubliceerd.
Veel plezier!!
Deel 4
Ronde 25, 26 en de rand worden gehaakt met haaknaald 6mm. Ronde 27-31 haken we weer met de 8 mm haaknaald. Zorg dat je een stopnaald met een groot oog in de buurt hebt om je eindjes weg te werken. Ben je nog niet tevreden over de hoogte van je col? Ga dan terug naar vorige week en stop er nog een herhaling in.
Patroon
Ronde 25: Haak 2 keerlossen, maak nog 1 ronde hstk met de camel steek (zie deel 3), sluit ronde met een hv in 1e st.
Ronde 26: Haak 2 keerlossen, maak een hstk in iedere steek, sluit ronde met een hv in 1e st.
Ronde 27: Haak 1 keerlosse (telt niet mee), v in elke st, sluit ronde met hv in 1e st.
Ronde 28-31: Haak 1 keerlosse, maak vasten met de waist coat st (zie deel 2), tussen de benen van elke vaste in de ronder er onder, sluit ronde met een hv in 1e st.
Rand
Keer je werk niet, hecht de draad nog niet af. Maak 1 keerlosse en haak van links naar rechts een kreeftsteek in elke steek. Sluit ronde met een hv in 1e steek. Hecht de draad af.
Hecht draad aan aan de onderzijde van de col en maak ook aan deze zijde een ronde met de kreefsteek.
Hecht af, stop alle draadjes en weg en draag je col met trots!
The last part of your new cowl is now available! Were you happy to work on this MCAL? We will finish the whole thing this week. Just the last few rounds and the border, that's it!
I chose to use the crab stitch for the border, because it's not flat. This stitches gives a nice curvy border and it looks really neat. I also used this stitch on my "Slightly Bobbly" cowl. "How do I make this stitch?" you ask? Well, here you can find both a phototutorial and a video tutorial in both Dutch and English.
The tutorial for the waist coat stitch can be found in part 2. Click here to go to part 2. Part 3 can be found here and any other information on the MCAL is on the MCAL page.
I hope you had fun with the current MCAL and I would love to see your version. You can share it on my Facebook page or on the FB group.
Hopefully you will join my next summer MCAL! The whole Passiflora pattern will be published next week.
Have fun!
Part 4
Rounds 25,26 and the border will be made with the 6 mm hook, rounds 27-31 will be made with hook 8 mm. If you are not pleased with the height of your cowl, please add a repeat of part 2 (rounds 11-17)
Pattern
Round 25: Ch2 (does not count as a stitch), make another round with hdc camel st (see part 3), close round with a sl st in 1st st.
Round 26: Ch2, hdc once in 1st and each following st, close round with a sl st in 1st st.
Round 27: Ch1, sc once in 1st st and each following st, close round with a sl st in 1st st.
Round 28-31: Ch1, make sc stitches in 1st st and each following st with the waist coat st (see part 2), close round with a sl st in 1st st.
Border
Do not turn your work, don't fasten off. Ch1 and working from left to right with the crab stitch in each stitch. Close round with a sl st in 1st st. Fasten off.
Attach yarn at the bottom side of the cowl and make another border round with the crab stitch.
Fasten off, weave in ends and wear your cowl with pride!
Ronde 18-24: Herhaal toer 11-17 nog 1 maal
En dat is het voor deze week! Volgende week maken we hem af zodat je nog lekker in de koudste maanden je col kan dragen. Als je de updates in mailbox wilt krijgen schrijf je dan in op de nieuwsbrief. Of volg me op social media (zie onderaan)!
~~~~~~

I hope you had fun crocheting the last part with the waistcoat stitch and I hope that part wasn't too hard! This week will be easy peasy, but this part is a bit bigger.

Want to have a quick glance at what was published last week? Here you can find part 2. All the other information can be found on the MCAL page. The accompanying tutorial is at the bottom of this blog post.

Have fun!

Part 3

After finishing part 2 you will have a height of about 5 cm or 2". If yours is shorter, add height with an additional repeat in this part. The total height after part 3 should be about 23 cm or 9". After part 4, the total height of the cowl will be about 30 cm or 12".
You will work on this part with a 6mm crochet hook!

Pattern

Round 6: Ch2 (does not count as a st throughout the pattern), hdc in each st, sl st in 1st st to close round.

Round 7-10: Ch 2, make a camel st in each st, sl st in 1st st to close round.

Round 11: Ch 2, hdc in 1st st and each st, sl st in 1st st to close round.

Round 13:  Ch 2, hdc in 1st st and each st, sl st in 1st st to close round.

Round 14-17: Repeat round 6-12 one more time

Round 18-24: Repeat round 11-17 one more time

That's it for this week! Next week is the wrap up of this cowl. It's so warm and cozy.

Happy New Year ! // 2017 Mood Blanket (patroon // pattern)

Gelukkig nieuwjaar!!!!

Hieronder het patroontje (mijn inspiratie komt HIER vandaan);

Mood blanket vierkantje

~~~~
Happy New Year! It feels like such a fresh start, it's amazing.... 2016 out of the door (but not crochet-wise, I will write a looking back post soon) and hellp 2017!
I love the new year, but I am not good at resolutions...
My main resolution will be: finish stuff. As many crocheters/knitters will say these first few weeks: I will finish my WIPs!
My Fibonacci blanket for example.. Poor thing is laying around for about 2 years...
Whoops.
I do want to undertake something small with big effects this year and I went searching in my stash. I found a few balls of Scheepjes Coctail yarn and added a few colours with help from my LYS owner. I need more!
Because: I am going to make a mood blanket this year. I picked a mood-inspired colour scheme from Pinterest and searched for a granny square pattern. I calculated how many squares I need to make for almost a whole year and decided on a 19x19 squares blanket. It is going to be fun! Do need to get a few more colours though but I will buy them on Wednesday. For the border I am going to use either off-white or white. I am still undecided on that part.
The pattern I am using for the square is really simple.
If you want to join, please do! I used the square pattern from here as inspiration:
Mood blanket square
Ch3, sl st to close to a ring. Do not turn your work for this pattern.
1) Ch3 (counts as a dc throughout the pattern), 2 dc in ring, ch3, *3 dc in ring, ch3*, repeat between ** 2 more times (four dc groups), sl st to 3rd ch of ch3
2) Ch3, dc in next and each dc (2dc, ch3, 2dc) in each corner, sl st to 3rd ch of ch3
3) Ch3, dc in next and each dc (2 dc, ch3, 2 dc) in each corner, sl st to 3rd ch of ch3, fasten off.
For the joining of the squares I am thinking of a fourth round and joining as you go, but I will post that soon! The same goes for the colour numbers, I will post this info in a part 2!
MCAL Passiflora 2: Getting started
Voorgaande informatie vind je op de MCAL pagina!
Ben je er klaar voor? Daar gaan we! Deze MCAL bevat zowel geschreven patroon als videotutorials dus ben je een beginner; probeer het gewoon!
Materialen
3-4 bollen Katia Kathmandu
Haaknaald 6 mm en 8 mm
Gebruikte steken
Al hakend opzetten met vasten: 2 lossen, steek naald in 2e l vanaf naald, omslag, doorhalen (losse gehaakt, 2 lussen op naald), omslag, haal door beide lussen heen. *steek naald in gemaakte losse, omslag, doorhalen (losse gehaakt, 2 lussen op naald), omslag, haal door beide lussen heen*, herhaal tussen ** tot je opzet lang genoeg is.
Gespleten vaste/Waistcoat steek: maak eerst een ronde van vasten. Keer, 1 keerlosse, steek naald tussen beide benen van een vaste in en maak een vaste. Herhaal voor iedere steek.
Patroon
Dit patroon is een recept voor een col met een omtrek van ongeveer 125 cm / 50” lang in het rond, die je 2x om je nek kan slaan. Het is telkens een herhaling van 1 steek, dus je hoeft geen rekening te houden met een meervoud van steken.
Keer je werk na iedere ronde, tenzij het patroon iets anders vermeld.
Maak de opzetketting en de waistcoat steek met een 8 mm haaknaald.
Ronde 1: Zet een ketting van ongeveer 165 lossen op of zet al hakend ongeveer 165 vasten op, sluit ronde met een halve vaste.
Ronde 2 – 5: 1 keerlosse, haak met de “waistcoat” steek in alle steken, sluit ronde met een hv in 1e st.
Bij dit eerste deel is het vooral van belang dat je kijkt of je col past!
*Tutorials voor het hakend opzetten en de gespleten vaste/waist coat steek staan onderaan de blogpost!*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Further information and previous parts can be found on the MCAL page.

Are you ready? Here we go!

Materials

3-4 balls Katia Kathmandu
Crochet hook size 6 mm and 8 mm

Stitches

Foundation single crochet: ch2, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, yo, pull through (made a ch, 2 loops on hook), yo, pull through 2 loops (1st fsc).  *insert needle in ch st, yo, pull through (ch st made, 2 loops on hook), yo, pull through 2 loops*,  repeat between ** until you have enough st.

Waistcoat stitch/ Split single crochet: insert hook between the legs of the next v, yo, pull through, yo, pull through both loops

Pattern

This pattern is a “recipe” pattern for a cowl with a circumference of about 50”, which can be wrapped around your neck twice.  It is a single stitch repeat so you do not have to worry about the amount of stitches or multiples.

Turn work after each round unless stated otherwise.

Crochet de FSC and the waist coat stitch with the 8 mm hook.

Round 1: Make a foundation single crochet chain or a normal chain with 165 stitches or as many stitches you need for a circumference of 50”, sl st in the first fsc to close round.

Round 2-5: Ch1, make a waistcoat st in each st, sl st in 1st st to close round.

It's a small part this week, just try and get it fitted to your taste.

Tutorials

Here are two video tutorials (in Dutch, but they are very clear) on the foundation single crochet and the waist coat stitch.
