Pattern: Tunisian Chevron Lace Dishcloth

General information

This pattern is written in US Crochet terms.

Skill level: Intermdiate

Special Stitches

Basic foundation row

Forward pass: Insert hook into back bump of first stitch, yo, pull up loop, leave loop on hook. Repeat for all chain stitches

Return pass: Ch1, * yo, pull through 2 loops*, repeat between ** until you have one loop left on hook

Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS)

Forward pass: Insert hook from right to left under front vertical bar, yo, pull up loop, leave loop on hook. Repeat for all stitches that are noted as TSS in the diagram.

Return pass: Ch1, * yo, pull through 2 loops* repeat between ** until you have one loop left on hook.

Finishing row

*Insert hook from right to left under front vertical bar, yo, make a slip stitch (1 loop on hook)*, repeat between ** until you have worked your way to the end of the row

YO: yarn over (yo hook, leave yarn on hook, sk next st)

Abbreviations

Ch: chain (yoh, pull through)

Sl st: slip stitch (insert hook in stitch, yoh and pull through stitch and loop on hook)

Sc: single crochet (insert hook in stitch, yoh, pull through stitch (two loops on hook), yoh and pull through both loops)

Notes

I’ve noticed that the chevron pattern does not pop immediately. After a washing you can see it much better, but because I used cotton you cannot block out the chevron pattern properly

Materials

Crochet hook: Tunisian Hook 6 mm

Yarn: 1 ball of Lily Sugar n Cream, 86 meters/95 yards per ball (1 ball yields 2 dishcloths)

Pattern

Ch 24

Make a foundation row, after finishing the forward pass you will have 25 loops on your hook, and 1 loop left after finishing the return pass.

Follow diagram for the pattern.

To finish your dishcloth make a finishing row after row 18 but keep in mind to insert your hook either in a TSS way  to keep your stitch pattern intact.

Do not fasten off, chain 1 and sc 3 times into the corner of your dishcloth. Single crochet once in each stitch or row end and make 3 sc stitches in the other corners.

Fasten off.
