Hello hello my dears!

I am in the midst of dust, dirt and other renovation stuff at the moment! It is so exciting to see it all coming together. It is looking lovely already. I probably have to deal with the aftermath for a few days but it is a small price to pay right?


But I am a bit bored, because I have to stay at home at the moment (either one of the owners has to be around) and I cannot do a lot. There's mess everywhere and we are confined to one bedroom. Yes pretty bored.

Hallo hallo lieverds,

Ik zit midden in het stof, vuil en losse  raamwerken op dit moment. Het is heel spannend (doch enerverend) om alles te zien gebeuren. Het ziet er al super uit! Ik denk dat ik de komende dagen vooral aan het opruimen en schoonmaken ben maar vandaag houd ik me daar nog even niet mee bezig :) Ik ga zo het huis uit met de kids en dan is het even chillen voor mij (want gister was ik alleen met de kids in een huis waar we nergens heen konden dat is echt niet aan te raden!) .

Ondanks dat het behelpen is verveel ik me :) Kan me niet echt concentreren ofzo.

Ik hoop dat jullie veel mooie dingetjes gemaakt hebben en dat jullie ze willen laten zien!

Demolition Time!

It's almost time!!
Tomorrow morning our Month of Renovation will start!
Lots of things, even part of the inside of the house will change. I am so so so so excited!
I took of the last blinds tonight and I am ready :)

What will happen?
- We will exchange all of our wooden window frames and doors for plastic ones. No more cubic rot!
- On our top floor there will be a dormer window placed. This will get rid of a very very very old and malfunctioning Velux window and will create lots of space and light. And it will turn the attic room into our new bedroom!
- A wall will be placed in our now bedroom, splitting one room into two. This will be Little Lady's new bedroom (and thus moving her out of Little Man's bedroom) and our new office space.

After months of dreaming about paint colours, flooring, new desks and decorating the new rooms in my head it is finally going to happen!!!

Now, off to relax and listen to the silence and think of a way to about offering snacks and coffee breaks for the builders!

Het is bijna tijd!
Morgenochtend gaat onze Maand van Verbouwingen eindelijk beginnen!
Heel veel dingen gaan nu eindelijk veranderen. We wonen hier nu 6 jaar en een aantal dingen zijn in die 6 jaar nog niet aangepakt, maar nu gaat alles zo zo zo mooi worden. Ik stuiter helemaal en heb er helemaal zin in :)
De laatste luxaflex/rolgordijnen zijn nu weggehaald. Laat ze maar komen!

Wat gaat er gebeuren?
- Al het hout gaat weg, en wordt vervangen voor kunststof. Geen houtrot meer!
- Op de bovenverdieping komt een dakkapel. Hierdoor zijn we van ons hele oude krakkemikkige Veluxraam af en wordt het ruimer en lichter. En het wordt onze Nieuwe Slaapkamer!!
- Er komt een muur in onze huidige slaapkamer en daardoor krijgt de Kleine Dame haar eigen slaapkamer (en gaat ze weg uit Kleine Man's kamer) en onze nieuwe werkkamer.

Na maanden dromen over verfkleuren, de nieuwe ruimtes, mooie spulletjes en allerlei soorten hippe inrichtingen in mijn hoofd is het nu eindelijk zo ver!

Natuurlijk ga ik jullie hier op de hoogte houden, maar je kunt ook alles volgen op Facebook, Twitter en Instagram :)

Nu nog even lekker relaxen en genieten van de stilte en ook bedenken hoe hard ik morgen met koffie moet rondlopen voor de klussers!

I saw them (with Bobby Kimball!) in 2002 or 2003 and was one of the most impressive concerts I've ever been. These men are clearly very talented and very professional musicians!!!!

Pick up your toys please.

They have been picking up all the pieces of lego for about an hour. They are pretty mad at me I think. Little Man tried to run off outside to play with a friend but I picked him up at their house and kept my foot down: I want the floor empty (it's our bedroom). I warned him when I heard the *woosh* of the tub of lego emptied on the floor. And I simply do not understand why they aren't speeding up with picking everything from the floor.

O the wonder of kids.... Cause and effect is a difficult thing to understand for them...

Ze zijn nu al bijna een uur bezig om alle stukjes lego op te rapen en in de bak aan het gooien. Ik denk dat ze best wel boos op me zijn.

De Kleine Man probeerde nog weg te sneaken naar een vriendje maar ik greep hem bij zijn lurven en stond er op dat hij samen met zijn zusje ging opruimen. Ik wil de vloer leeg, want anders blijft het liggen! En het is ook nog eens onze slaapkamer. Nou had ik hem gewaarschuwd toen ik de *woosh* hoorde van een bak lego die omgekieperd werd. En ik snap gewoon niet waarom ze zo traag aan het opruimen zijn (onder heel veel protest en verwijten).

Kinderen... Soms snap ik ze niet... En zij vinden het geloof ik ook moeilijk om oorzaak en gevolg te zien....

Crochet update!

It has been ages since I posted a crochet related post, sorry 'bout that! It seems that other things were more important than crocheting :) poor neglected hook...

I am stitching like mad because I am really really behind on the Dutch CAL project. To be honest I am 10 weeks behind...... 

I also have two finished projects to release in a few weeks here and a WIP snake from summer 2013. O and a blue glitter hat. 

So I am off to set fire to my crochet hook, trying to hook with the speed of light! I want to get rid of my WIPs!

Het is eigenlijk veel, veel te lang geleden dat ik hier iets over haken heb geschreven, sorry! Kennelijk was de haaknaald even niet zo belangrijk, maar nu weer wel! Arm genegeerd haaknaaldje...

Ik probeer op dit moment heel hard bij te benen met de Dutch CAL want ik loop maar liefst 10 weken acher... Ik heb nog wat te doen de komende weken!

Ik heb ook nog twee projectjes die uitgeschreven moeten worden en hopelijk over een paar weken op de blog staan. En daarnaast lag er nog een project-slang van vorige zomer en o ja, een glitter muts.

Dus ik ga heel heel hard haken, hopelijk met de lichtsnelheid (een fractie daarvan om heel eerlijk te zijn)! Ik wil geen WIPs meer!

This means WAR

Really.
This whole gardening thing should be fun, but it's not at the moment.
We had a thunderstorm and rain last night which is a thing to be happy about when you have a vegetable garden. I was not.
My basil was munched, the snails were in my thyme (which according to the net they should not have been because they hate the smell!), holes in my bell pepper plant and even my cucumber and bean plants were bending over with snails.
No fun at all.
Echt.
Het (moes)tuinieren zou rustgevend moeten zijn ofzo, maar nu is het dat eigenlijk helemaal niet.
We hadden een fikse onweersbui afgelopen nacht en natuurlijk is dat superfijn voor alle plantjes. Ze snakten wel naar een beetje vocht. Maar dat was maar de helft van wat ze echt nodig hebben, want als hun blaadjes aangevroten zijn dan kunnen ze natuurlijk niet hard gaan groeien! Ik was niet blij.
Mijn basilicum was voor een deel weg, de citroenmelisse was ook alweer gekrompen, mijn komkommer lag plat, mijn bonen gebogen door het gewicht van slakken en gaten en geknapte steeltjes bij de bladeren van mijn paprika.
Niet leuk.

So this morning I went out and picked up every snail and slug who has been an uninvited guest in my herb and vegetable beds.
All my beer traps were full......
Dus vanochtend stapte ik in mijn pyjama naar buiten en pakte ik elke (naakt)slak die ik kon vinden in de tuin. Alle biervallen zaten vol.....

O and I ripped out a pumpkin seedling because I was just too impatient and wanted to see if it was germinating.
En daarbovenop trok ik ook nog eens de wortel van een pompoenzaailing stuk omdat ik in de aarde aan het wroeten was om te kijken of er iets gebeurde. Zucht.

Breathe in, breathe out. It's just my first year.........
Vooral blijven ademhalen, het is nog maar mijn eerste jaar.....

Deze eet dode blaadjes. Hij mag blijven (dat geldt ook voor de roze en gele huisjesslakken)

Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee geen babies!

After popping about 25 snails/slugs into a beer container this morning (eew) I am really really looking forward to warmer days and less snails/slugs. And less holes in my veggies. You probably can imagine I am a bit frustrated right now :)

Any tips are 150% percent welcome!

Nadat ik dus ongeveer 25 (naakt)slakken had opgepakt (eew) en in een bierval had gestopt kijk ik enorm uit naar warmere dagen en minder slakken. En hopelijk dan ook minder gaten in mijn blaadjes. Je kunt je waarschijnlijk voorstellen dat ik een beetje gefrustreerd ben haha :)
