Busy Fingers Showing Off! Link Party #5

We had some lovely entries on last weeks Link Party!

It was fun to see the diversity and all the colours.

Here is the top 3 picked by you, my dear readers..

Number 1:

Puff Flower Crochet Bag by DiaperMum

Number 2:

The growing and progressing colourful blanket by Rianne

Number 3:

The lovely scooter basket cover by Astri

Thank you all for participating, it has been fun again!
Please grab your "I've been featured" button!

And for this week:

In most link parties you see Finished Objects (FOs) but not Works In Progress (WIPs). I want to change that because I think the road to the end result is just as important as finishing a project. Maybe even more important because you can learn so much from creating something.

So this link party will be for both of them, WIPs and FOs. The Link Party is open from Thursday until Monday morning (GMT).

I would love to see you all share Works in Progress, maybe opening up discussions on the project itself and the techniques that have been used. Maybe get a few tips or some great ideas.

I would also invite you all to share your FOs, from all crafty areas. Being it paperwork, embroidery, cooking, crochet, knitting, quilting, whatever. As long as it is creative and has come from Your Fingers!

To party along there are a few basic “rules”:

Please post the link to your actual blog post, not your homepage. Any project page is allowed, so Flickr/Yahoo Groups/Tumblr, it does not matter as long as it shows a project that has been made by you.

Please follow me on my blog or Facebook and grab the link party button and post it on your website/blog. I will gladly follow you back!

Please visit the two or three links above your link and leave a comment. Let’s party together!

Please no Etsy Stores, advertizing or other link parties.

Next week I will feature the top three most visited links and I will Pin your project on my Pinterest wall.

Have fun visiting eachother and have a party! Get yourself noticed!

Easy Livin'

It was an Easy Livin' day.
After immensely enjoying my Iron Maiden concert last night (together with Big Man and a friend of ours) we slipped into bed at 1 AM.
And waking up at 6 AM.
That was just too early.

Luckily for me it was my day off and I turned over and snoozed a bit before Little Lady woke up (Little Man already ran downstairs after he noticed Big Man was preparing for work).

And what was even better is that Little Man had a day off of school! No preparations for snacks, no dressing up and no early bike rides. Just snuggles on the couch in PJs.

Marvelous!

Downside: Grading week with two kids awake is not a combination.

But I got lucky again.

Little Lady and Little Man took a little nap.

Perfect.

Mies got another froggy victim, but it seems they can rescue themselves so I did not bother saving a life today. This was the umptieth frog of the past week, so I hoped he would hop back into the bushes. Silly cats.(he hopped away five minutes after this pic and Mies decided it wasn't pretty or shiney anymore)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I got a bit of crocheting done. I hope to finish it up in a few days and post the pattern!

Have a great evening!

Monday Music

Next to being creative and playing with yarn I have another big love.
The love of music.

I played recorder and guitar (both classical and electric) for years and I always loved it.

My parents listened a lot to music, lots of different genres and different types of music.

I really learned a lot about bands, singers, instruments, rythms and classical music!

But my first musical heroes are a couple of "old" guys (they are getting grey!).

Tomorrow I am going to see them together with Big Man and a friend of ours and I am excited about it.
It has been such a long time since I have seen them live! It will be a great show.

The band my dad and my uncle were very fond of and the band I have "inherited" from them!

Iron Maiden, in their younger years.

So I will be "headbangin' " tomorrow and trying to get a glimpse of Bruce Dickinson, the front man and singer. I still have such a teenage crush on him :)

P.S. I am thinking of making this a recurrent topic every monday, it will cover a lot of different music styles! And I think, as I do myself, a good song cheers up a dull Monday!

Let's Get It On..

This is what I thought when I walked into the garden last Thursday Morning..

Little Man and I looked at eachother and thought: "What? What is that?"

A very loving couple needed some candlelight, sweet music and maybe some privacy..

I had never seen this before!

Maybe it is a bit too personal, but the "love-arrow" they exchange is very clear to see.

Really awesome. Little Man was also very much intrigued and he now knows we are going to have some baby snails in the near future!

After half an hour they went on seperate ways, gliding each to their own destiny.

Mommy-to-be with the "love-arrow" stuck to her side...

And Daddy-to-be clearly in need of something to nibble on.

I love the way our garden is so full of animals and how they show their own habits!!

Mixed Up Weather

What did you think of the Weather last week? It was fickle, wasnt't it? We've had hot and sunny, hot and cloudy, damp and rainy, we had all of it! In the morning it was really hard to make a decision how to dress for the whole day!

But I have enjoyed the dry weather we had. It was lovely to be in the garden because when it's sunny it is mostly too dry and hot for little creatures to show up, but damp and hot was a perfect combination for little animals! Not for humans though.

I had to think up a new hairdo for Little Lady to get her hair out of her neck and this type of ponytail got most of her hair out of the way instead of sticking to her face all sweaty!

And one day it was just too HOT to eat anything warm so I made up a salad from scratch and added some little treats tapas style. It was yummy. Just a salad with avocado, little tomatoes, cucumber and a honey mustard sauce, bread with tapenade and some pre made tapas. Yum yum.

And here is Terror Mies as I like to call her now. She also liked the weather because of the visitors we had in the garden:

Victim number one: a little toad. He rescued himself.

Victim number two: a small froggy, who I rescued from the claws of Mies. He tried desperately to get away from her, so I grabbed him and put him in the bushes. Little Man now knows the difference between a toad and a frog, and I showed him how he could grab them gently and how to not distress him. A lesson I learned from my parents I now passed on to the next generation. So cool.

And I thought "Well, what are the odds of two days in a row to find an amphibian in the garden?"

Meet victim number three:

This frog was a bit bigger! But beautiful, really beautiful spots and stripes. We decided to put him in the bushes at the playground behind our house.

We've had them before and I always wonder how on earth they come to our garden because the nearest pond is far far away!

We also had a lovely visit from my mother-in-law and she handed me an old edition of Sobotta's Atlas of Human Anatomy in German. "Sobotta" as it is called in short is a concept I knew from my university years, every medicine student had to buy this atlas so I am very happy that she gifted it to me. It is a  marvelous atlas!

On the crochet front I am very, very busy making up stuff/stashbusting my ass off! It doesn't show here, because I want it to be a surprise but hopefully in the next two weeks, when most of the grading of term week is done (it starts this Monday, EEK!) I hopefully have some time to write up a few patterns. Free patterns that is! They were fun to make, so I hope you will as well.

Lots of colours, perfect for summer projects :)

I will keep you posted and I wish you all a very nice weekend!
