Dan ben je bezig met je amigurumi en dan denk je " O ja, dat gat... Hoe krijg ik dat netjes dicht?" Waar je aan de andere kant zo begint dat je je absoluut geen zorgen hoeft te maken over de netheid (want dat is al een heel net begin met een ring en dan vasten er in) is het hier dat je zelf moet uitvogelen hoe je het zo netjes krijgt dat het aan beide kanten mooi is! Daarom deze tutorial!
Wat heb je nodig? Een afgemaakt ballletje/pootje/lijf of iets dergelijks en een stopnaald.
The first few times of making amigurumi I sat down with my very nearly finished legs/heads/arms and thought " How on Earth am I going to close that hole?"
At the start of your amigurumi part it looks so nice and neat and then on the other side you have a gaping hole you need to close yourself. Gasp.
Do not be afraid, here comes a tutorial on closing that terrifying hole!
What do you need? Your amigurumi part and a blunt needle
Kijk goed naar waar je afgehecht hebt. Laat een heel lang stuk draad zitten waar je afgehecht hebt. Neem je naald, rijg je garen door de naald en bestudeer de plek waar je afgehecht hebt. Wat ik altijd doe ik ga altijd naar de overkant van de steek waar ik was. Onderaan is mijn afhechting dus ik kies een steek er direct recht tegenover. Haal door.
Look closely where you finished off and leave a long long yarn end. Take your needle, thread yarn unto it and insert it underneath the stitch on the opposite side of the point you finished off. Pull yarn end through.
Dan kies ik een andere steek, een kwartslag verder. En steek mijn naald weer aan de overkant door een steek. Doorhalen.
Then I choose another stitch at about 3 o' clock, insert my needle into it and also into the stitch at the opposite side. Pull yarn through.
Dit herhaal ik door in ieder geval vijf steken te halen, dan heb ik een mooi gesloten rondje. Telkens dus aan de overkant van waar ik in steek daar haal ik hem door.
Repeat for another four stitches, then you will have a closed hole. Pick stitches along the sides of the hole and make sure you insert your needle also through the stitch on the other side.
Bij de laatste kijk ik even goed welke nog moet, meestal kies ik om door de buitenste lussen mijn naald te steken zodat alles naar binnen toe sluit. Bijna klaar!
When I come to the last stitch I really check which I need to do. Then I only insert my needle through the outer loops of my stitch so that everything is pushed on the inside. Almost finished!
Tadaa! Dicht! Nu nog een goed knoopje.
There it is. Closed! Now we need to finish it so it won't come loose.
Daar gaan we nog 2 keer: insteken in een steek (buitenste lussen) en doorhalen (maar niet helemaal!).
Pick another two stitches opposite to each other and insert through outer loops, pull through but not completely!
Doorhalen tot je een lus overhebt en daar je naald weer doorheen steken en doorhalen.
Pull through until you have a small loop left and insert your needle and pull through.
Dat is de eerste helft van de knoop (we gaan voor een platte knoop).
One part done. You want a reef knot.
Weer twee lussen kiezen, nog een keer doorhalen tot je een lusje overhebt (wel een andere richting op) en de naald door de lus halen.
In the opposite direction of your last step, pull through another two outer loops of two stitches, leave small loop and insert needle through loop.
Klaar! Nu heb je een net gesloten einde! Ik knip de draad niet af, want dan gebruik ik die draad om mijn deel vast te zetten aan een lichaam of een hoofd etc. Ik laat dus ook een flink end er aan vast als ik begin met afhechten om te voorkomen dat ik niet genoeg draad heb om hem vast te zetten.

Done! One very neatly closed ball. After closing I never cut off my yarn end as I use this end for sewing parts together. I leave about 10" so that I have enough yarn to work with for sewing.
