Inspiration Wednesday: Lace Crochet
Deze manier van haken komt uit Ierland en was populair in de tijd dat de Ierse bevolking het heel zwaar had door de Potato Famine (de hongersnood toen alle aardappeloogsten mislukten en er een hele hoop Ieren emigreerden naar Amerika). Met hun haakwerk probeerden ze dan nog aan geld te komen. Prachtig voorbeeld van hoe deze traditie werkt.

This is Irish lace crochet and it was popular around the time of the Potato famine. Lots of ladies crocheted to get a little bit of money for food. This is a stunning example on how they made the Irish lace shawls back then.

Als je met zulke handen zoiets moois mag maken. Je ziet hoe geconcentreerd en liefdevol alle bewegingen zijn. Dat is wat we doen. We creeeren iets prachtigs met onze handen en daar mogen we trots op zijn...

Creating things by hand is an art. You can see in this movie how the creator moves his hand steady and loving with all the tools and the leather. This is ofcourse what we crocheters do as well. We create something lovely with our hands and I think we can be very proud of that skill...

Hand stitched.. All those beads on the new Chanel couture collection are stitched by hand... Simply gorgeous. Chanel has lots of other video's showing the tiny details, I love to watch them!

Ik doe het niet vaak, maar soms kijk ik in modebladen om inspiratie op te doen. Een van de ontwerpers die ik echt prachtige kledingstukken vind maken is Elie Saab.
Heerlijk dromerig, mooie stoffen, elegante vormen, zo mooi!!!!
