Chit Chat Wednesday: Moestuin // Vegetable Garden

~~~~~~~~~~
After three years of trying I am quitting my vegetable garden project.... Last year I had such a small harvest with so much input that I am going to stop! I still have quite a few packets of seeds so instead of buying anything new I am putting everything I have into my raised beds and we'll see what will grow!
In my square foot bed I spreaded out some radish and carrots and a few small leaves are popping open above the soil. I have also put some peas into a bed in the back of the garden.
I am taking it easy this summer and will slowly be adding more bee/butterfly friendly flowering perennials into my borders and make it a happy place for them!
If you have a good example of a bee-attracting plant I am eager to hear from you!
Alles op een rijtje // Thoughts in order
De vogels fluiten uit volle borst, je ziet de bladeren en de bloesems openspringen: het is lente!
Gisteren was het ook supermooi weer. Je krijgt dan zo'n gevoel van "nog even en het is zomer.."
Maart was hectisch. En heftig. Naar aanleiding van het bellen naar een psycholoog heb ik ook gesprekken op mijn werk gehad om te kijken waar we wat uit mijn stapel werk kunnen halen. Tot nu weet ik nog niks, maar ik weet wel dat de gesprekken zelf al voor wat rust hebben gezorgd. Aan de andere kant ben ik moe, zo moe.
Nog even en dan laat ik mijn 6vwo leerlingen los en zie ik ze pas als ze achter hun tafeltjes zitten voor een spannend moment: het eindexamen. Heel spannend allemaal en aan de ene kant vind ik het zo leuk dat ik ze daar naar toe breng maar aan de andere kant zie ik op tegen de berg werk die het met zich  meebrengt en de superstrakke deadlines. Eep.
Ik probeer het zoveel mogelijk van me af te zetten en geniet van kleine momentjes. En krijg gelukkig veel knuffels.
En ik haak, ik naai en ik lees. Als mijn hoofd er naar staat pak ik iets er bij en ik relax.... Volgende week komt er sowieso een nieuw patroon! Voor Kathelijne ga ik ze ook haken, maar dan van Opal sokkenwol die ik al netjes in twee cakejes heb gesplits.
Ook ben ik rustig aan de plannen voor de nieuwe MCAL in mijn hoofd aan het sorteren :) Ik denk dat ik het voor deze MCAL over een heel andere boeg ga gooien :)
Lieve mensen, dank jullie wel voor alle lieve berichtjes van de afgelopen weken, ze doen me goed :)
Veel haakplezier dit weekend!
~~~~~

The birds are chirping loud, the blossom flowers are popping open: it's Spring!
Everything plantlike or animal like is starting to get more lively, and yesterday it was such beautiful weather. A few more weeks and then it will feel like summer already I think,

Looking back to last month I can only say that March was a very hectic month. I decided to call a psychologist and had a few talks with my supervisors at work about my work load. I already feel helped but I know there is a huge monster coming that I need to tackle: the GCSE.

In a few weeks I will cut the umbilical cord connected to my students (haha) and they will prepare for their final test...And for me that time of the year will start with a huge amount of papers and a very tight deadline. Not looking forward to it if I'm honest.

I try to sit and let go. I do get a lot of cuddles and support..

And I crochet, I sew and I read. Those are my tiny moments of zen. Next week I will publish a new pattern! I will make the same legwarmes for Kathelijne in her size with two yummy Opal sock yarn that I've already wound in two yarn cakes.

I am also materializing the ideas in my head for the new summer MCAL. I am going to do it differently this summer, so keep your eyes open for hints!

My dears, thank you so much for your warm comments during the last few weeks, they are truly appreciated.

Have lots of hooky fun this weekend!

Chit Chat Wednesday: Beenwarmers! // Legwarmers!

P.S. Iemand inspiratie voor een naam? Ik heb even geen idee...

~~~~~~
Hurray my legwarmers are finished! I made them from 2 balls of "Noorse Sokkenwol" by Scheepjes yarns. I will publish the pattern next Friday, and it will be more of a customizable recipe. I love the feel, the look and they look awesome together with my Sanita boots.
I hope you like them! Kathelijne looked sour when I started wearing them so I will be making her a pair with rainbow coloured sock yarn.
P.S. Anyone knows a pretty name for these legwarmers? I am a bit inspirationless...
Hallo Oude Vriend Viking! // Hello Old Friend Viking
Easy Street, Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt 2012
Source: Fabadashery
Eigenlijk was ik op zoek naar ritsen voor een ander projectje. Ik kreeg de geest gisteren. Ik wilde eigenlijk wat opbergzakjes naaien maar ik kon geen ritsen vinden voor mijn snelle projectje! Verdorie. Kennelijk dus of te goed verstopt of ik heb ze allemaal gebruikt! Maar in mijn zoektocht kwam ik wel een patchwork project tegen van maar liefst...... meer dan 2 jaar geleden... Ik had nog even tijd voordat ik de kinderen moest ophalen van school en schoof dus achter mijn bijna vergeten Viking en naaide wat halve vliegende ganzen (worden ze zo in NL genoemd? het zijn flying geese). Wat was dat lekker, hersenloos lapjes over elkaar leggen en er onderdoor halen.
Ik ben namelijk wat grieperig geweest en ik had bewust school even opzij gezet de afgelopen twee dagen en dit was even perfect! Ik heb de Viking laten staan want ooit moet hij toch af, de Easy Street Quilt van Bonnie van Quiltville. Al 3 patronen van haar liggen op de bank, een 4e ligt alleen als top klaar om afgemaakt te worden en Easy Street zou de 5e worden. Ik heb genoeg stof liggen dus ik denk dat ik daar de komende tijd ook lekker aan ga werken.
De quilts van Bonnie zijn echt een aanrader, ze heeft veel gratis patronen en ze zijn heerlijk kleurig a la ratjetoe.
Houden jullie ook van wat afwisseling met het haken? Wat doe je dan? Vertel me!
~~~~~~~

I was actually searching for zippers for a quick small sewing project but I couldn't find them. And then I found my abandoned Easy Street Quilt mystery... from 2 years ago.... So I got out my Viking, and in the time I had left before I had to pick up the children I actually sewed 40 single wings to flying geese. You need to know that I stopped at clue 2 of this mystery quilt because I couldn't wrap my head around it but they flew underneath my needle. I am going to sit and sew a bit here and there!

This was the perfect project right now for my and my emotions since I had been sick with the flu on Monday and Tuesday and I didn't want to pay attention to school work. It was bliss. Just putting two pieces of fabric together and put them underneath a needle. So easy and soothing! Let's see how far I will come with this top.

The Easy Street Quilt is designed by Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville. She has a lot of free patterns and her tutorials are awesome. If you like seing please go check out her colourful quilts!

Any one else into sewing? Or do you have a number 2 hobby next to crochet? Tell me!

Chit Chat Wednesday: Jubileum // Anniversary

Gisteren, 21 maart, waren de vent en ik 10 jaar getrouwd!!! Man wat een eeuwigheid :)
Alle gekheid terzijde, ik vind hem nog steeds de liefste en de leukste vent op deze aardkloot!

~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday, March 21st, Hubby and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. It feels like an eternity :) To be honest, he is the best thing that happened to me and I love him to pieces!
