2013 Review: Weight Watchers for the Yarn Stash!

In March 2013 I found out about Linda's and Ana's Stash Busting Project!

I started out at 17,6 kg. O my. My yarn closet was flooded with yarn.... Bags on the floor were also filled with yarn....

I did buy some yarn last year, but I kept it at a minium. I bought some sock yarn for a shawl, some yarn for a sweater and I (ahem) bought a lot of little balls of Phildar no. 3 for lots of colourful projects..

In maart 2013 ging ik van start bij het Stash Busting Project bij Linda en Ana.
Ik startte met 17,9 kilo aan garen... Mijn kastje was echt te vol. En naast de kast stonden ook nog tassen.

Ik heb wel wat garen gekocht het afgelopen jaar maar ik heb echt maar weinig gekocht! Ik had wat sokkengaren, wat garen voor een trui en (ahem) aardig wat bolletjes Phildar no. 3 voor kleurrijke projecten. 


I was sooooo excited to weigh my yarn and to see how much yarn went out of that closet despite my yarn addiction!
I knew that I had "lost" 2 kg to the knitting group at the elderly home, but I had no idea how much I lost making my crochet projects in 2013!

Ik was zooooo zenuwachtig om mijn garen te wegen, om echt zeker te weten hoeveel garen er weg was gewerkt.
Ik wist dat ik twee kilo had gegeven aan de breigroep in het bejaardentehuis hier, maar ik wist niet hoeveel kg in totaal al hakend er weggewerkt was. 

I started 2014 with 11,9 kg of yarn. Phew. I lost 5 kg!

And I have lots of space in my yarn cupboard.

En ik heb heerlijk ruimte in mijn garenkast. 

For 2014 I want to make a few resolutions:

- Bust more kilos of yarn!
- Make space in that same cupboard for my fabric stash

My Hidden Triangles Hexagon blanket which has been a WIP for almost two years

A Tunisian Project (soon-to-be-released)

And still a pair of socks (Aargh!)...
En nog steeds sokken...

And we are going to use dishcloths! So I need to crochet a whole pile of them with all of the Lily Sugar n Cream in my stash.
En we gaan over op gehaakte poetsdoekjes. Ik moet dus flink wat doekjes haken maar gelukkig heb ik wat bollen Lily Sugar n Cream in mijn voorraad.

My goal is to have them by March. Well, not the CAL blanket but I hope to have these other WIPs done!
Mijn doel is om deze projecten af te hebben in Maart. Alleen de CAL loopt langer door.

For my fabric stash I have the same resolutions as for my yarn stash. Use it! I got rid of a lot of fabrics by donating them to Little Man's school. His teacher was very happy to get a bag full of scraps/bits and pieces/yards.

At the moment I am working on Patches & Pinwheels and I am close to finishing my last 12 blocks.
After that I planning on getting back at my Easy Street quilt!

Dutch CAL 2014: As-we-go Stripey Blanket!

 

Yes!!! My first ever CAL has started yesterday!!

Every Friday for 40 weeks 2 to 4 rows will be revealed and we (with 'we' I mean about 2100 ladies) will be crocheting like maniacs on the As-we-go Stripey blanket from Not Your Average Crochet during the weekend!

 I know, the pattern is already online, but two lovely ladies, Tertia and Jolanda from 'Dutch Crochet, a granny a day' have translated the pattern in Dutch for those who have difficulty with English patterns. It is a perfect opportunity for me to finally destash my single colour balls of yarn. The balls of yarn I actually were destined to become a ripple blanket. I think this blanket will be more fun to me as I have a tendency to get bored quickly with blankets! And most of all, with 2 to 4 rows every week so the pace will be perfect for me. Absolutely no stress at all about finishing this one :)

Yes!!!! Mijn allereerste Crochet-a-long is van start gegaan!

Iedere vrijdag gedurende 40 weken worden 2 tot 4 rijen bekend gemaakt van de As-we-go Stripey blanket van Not Your Average Crochet en zullen tijdens het weekend ongeveer 2100 dames maniakaal aan het haken zijn!!! 

Ik weet dat het patroon al online staat, maar twee lieve dames, Tertia en Jolanda van Dutch Crochet a Granny a day hebben een Nederlandse vertaling gemaakt voor degenen die moeite hebben met het Engelse patroon. Het voor mij de perfecte gelegenheid om de bollen die ik eigenlik had opgespaard voor een ripple blanket een veel leuker doel te geven. Ik denk dat ik hiermee minder snel verveeld ga raken omdat er iedere keer wat anders gebeurd! En wat ook lekker is dat er echt maar 2 tot 4 rijen gehaakt hoeven worden iedere week. Lekker relaxed!

I love my rainbow palette!

Een regenboog van kleurtjes heb ik uitgezocht. Het zijn allemaal bollen Wibra Saskia.

Yesterday the first clues were published and I got row 1 and 2 done. And lots and lots of counting...My blanket will be double bed sized (queen size in US?) so this is going to be a Huge Cuddly Colourful blanket!!

Gisteren zijn de eerste clues gegeven en heb ik rij 1 en 2 gehaakt. En heel heel veel tellen! Mijn deken wordt formaatje tweepersoonsbed. Heerlijk Groot durf ik wel aan met dit tempo :)

Busy Fingers Showing Off!! #28

Happy New Year!!!!

I hope you had a very enjoyable New Year's Eve and had a little sleep in on January 1st :) we were woken by the Little Ones at 8 AM, and it felt way too early!

I had some time to wind down and a bit of time to crochet. Actually, I didn't do much. I mostly relaxed, but I made some projects for the last Tunisian Crochet lessons. And I am planning on joining the Stash Busting project for 2014 over at Linda's Crafty Corner and the Dutch CAL 2014. Lots of crochet happiness!

Pattern: Moss Lace Shawl (Re-release!)

 

I am very very happy to re-introduce my Moss Lace Shawl Pattern!!!

It has been tested during the last four (!) weeks on Ravelry, but it was so worth the time and effort. Thanks to my lovely testers the pattern is error-free and revamped.

It now includes writtens instructions (US crochet terms) charts and adaptations.

You will need two balls of sock yarn and a 4.5 mm hook for a shawlette size.

2013 in a Nutshell: Crochet review!

 

Well, it seems I have been pretty busy :) These are all the patterns which has been released in 2013 as "Zomaar een Dag Crochet Designs" :)

I am very very happy after making this collage!

I hope 2014 will bring lots of inspiration and new designs to publish!
