Mag ik allereerst zeggen dat mijn mond openviel van jullie enthousiasme? Dat er zooooooooveel haaksters mee zouden doen had ik echt niet gedacht. Wauw. En wat een mooie beginnetjes heb ik al gezien op de Facebook groep. Zoveel verschillende soorten garens en zoveel verschillende uitstralingen alweer. Echt geweldig.
Deze shawl ben ik eigenlijk begonnen omdat ik enorm opkijk naar Stephen West en zijn MKALs en ieder jaar is er de geweldige Bonnie Hunter met haar mystery Quilt A Long die loopt tot kerst. Dat wilde ik ook eens doen.
En ik ontwierp de MCAL met een docent in mijn achterhoofd, eigenijk mezelf (heel raar om te zeggen). Iedere week een beetje huiswerk tussen het nakijkwerk door om even te relaxen. En eerst wat meer, daarna wat minder als het nakijkwerk zich opstapelt. En zo is hij ook de komende weken!
Nog 1 week wat meer haken en dan is het heel relaxed aan.
Ik merkte wel dat jullie wat tips kunnen gebruiken dus hierbij wat stiekeme aanwijzingen:
- let er echt op dat je een stokje in de lossenboog voor het midden doet
- markeer eventueel de twee middelste steken waar in je telkens een V steek doet, OF doe ze in de lossenbogen
- de eerste aanwijzing loopt van schouder tot schouder (over je rug langs) of net ietsje meer.
- de tweede aanwijzing zal van vingertop tot vingertop (over je rug langs) lopen
- ik ben zelf maar klein (maat S qua schouders) maar als je een lekkere grote omslagdoek wilt zou ik wel een stuk of 3-4 herhalingen erbij doen bij aanwijzing 1
En ook eventjes hierboven een foto van het midden. Ik denk dat dat heel erg gaat helpen!

First of all: WOW! The enthousiasm of you my dear readers is simply amazing! I never would have thought this MCAL would be getting this big!!! Soooooooo many versions I have already adored in the Facebook group. So many beautiful yarns and beautiful colours. You made me smile.
My inspiration comes from the MKAL that I have seen organized by Stephen West (he is awesome) and the ever happy Bonnie Hunter with her mystery Quilt-a-longs she hosts in the weeks up until Christmas. I wanted to try the same thing!
But I wanted to create a MCAL that was not too long (I get bored easily) and would fit in my working schedule if I were a participant.
That is how I designed this shawl. The first two weeks are a bit bigger, after that it gets really relaxed because I know all teacher will be soaked up by their correction work. Poor teachers, I hear you.
One more week of more work.
I noticed that a few things were unclear so I made a list of some helpful tips.
- be careful with the chain spaces, do not forget to make a stitch in that gap!
- use stitchmarkers and either position them in the the center two stitches for the V stitches, or position them in the chain spaces.
- you will need to have a "triangle" that runs from shoulder to shoulder (or slightly bigger) after the first clue
- after clue #2 you will have a triangle running from fingertip to fingertip over your back (or slightly bigger)
- I am a size S, so please do not hesitate to add a few repeats if you are broader in the shoulder department. You can adjust any repeat you like!
On the top of this post I have put a picture of the center stitches, I think this will also help a lot.
