Pattern: Waffle Stitch Dishcloth/Wafelsteek Vaatdoekje




As promised in my last video post, here is a scrubby pattern for a dishcloth using the waffle stitch!

It worked up beautifully and I am happy to add this one to my little pile of dishcloths. I love them :)

General Information

This pattern is written in US Crochet terms.
Skill level: Advanced beginner

Abbreviations

Ch: chain
Sl st: slip stitch
Sc: single crochet
Dc: double crochet

Special Stitches

FPDC: front post double crochet (yoh, insert hook around dc post in front of work, yoh, pull through st (3 loops on hook) *pull through 2 loops*, repeat between ** one more time to finish stitch

Materials

Lily Sugar ’n Cream 1 ball
Crochet hook  4 mm/G

Written instructions

Ch36

Row 1: Ch2 (does not count as a stitch), dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in each stitch until end (you will have a multiple of 3 double crochet stitches). Turn

Row 2:  Ch2, dc in first st, *fpdc around next dc, dc once in next two dc*, repeat until last two st, fpdc in second to last st, dc in last st. Turn.

Row 3: Ch2, dc in first st, *dc in fpdc, fpdc around next two dc*, repeat between ** until last two st, dc in last fpdc, dc in last dc. Turn.

Repeat row 2 and 3 nine more times

Row 22: repeat row 2 as last row.

After finishing last row, do not fasten off. Ch1, sc evenly around sides and sl st into first sc made. Done!

Adjustments of the pattern

The waffle stitch is made over a repeat of 3 stitches. Chain a multiple of 3 if you would like to make the pattern bigger or smaller. Always end with a row 2 to have the top and bottom of your project look alike.
