*Click here for the printer friendly version!*   *Klik hier voor de Nederlandse printvriendelijke versie!*

General information
In this practice pattern you will learn how to single crochet, or sc as it is called in patterns. This is the second pattern published with the course "Learn to Crochet Simple Style". For this pattern there is also a little tutorial how to make jogless stripes. This is the first pattern to use abbreviations.

Skill level
Beginner

Abbreviations
Ch: chain
Sc: single crochet
Sl st: slip stitch

Notes
You can use any yarn you want, just make sure it can fit over an egg. These cozies are made to fit over a medium egg with some wiggle room. If you use thinner or thicker yarn, make sure you increase more or less.

Stripey hat
Follow the pattern for one of the hats. Alternate colours for each row (or two rows, choose as you like).
For changing colours, follow these steps for jogless stripes (I adopted the method from NeedleNoodles):
1)      Finish a round in one colour until you get to the “sl st to first sc” step
2)      Take hook out of the loop, leave loop on hat (do not pull!)
3)      Insert hook into first sc from the round and put hook into loop at the back of your work.
4)      Grab your new colour (leave about 6” to weave in later) and make a slip stitch with the new colour through the loop at back of work.
5)      Continue the pattern for the new round, i.e. “Ch1, sc into each st…” for a normal round.
If your are changing colour every round you do not have to fasten off each time, just let the colour not in use hang at the back of your work and pick it up when you need it. For two rounds in the same colour you can do the same but be sure not to pull the colour too tight too avoid bunching. For three ofthe same colour I would suggest to cut off the colours not in use and weave the ends in.

Tassle  top
Attach yarn to top of hat with by pulling up a loop through the top of a stitch of the first round.
*Ch8, sl st to top of another stitch*, repeat these steps until you are satisfied with the amount of little loops on top of the hat. Make sure you attach the loops to different places at the top.
Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
For pompoms, there will be a tutorial soon on my blog!
